Bright Print continues on acquisition trail with Newcastle printer buyout

Tacking on 45-staff Newcastle Camera Print (NCP will open up a new market for Sydney-based Bright Print.

Bright Print managing director John Bright said the transition had been relatively smooth since the deal was struck on 1 July.

“We have made acquisitions in 2001 and 2004. In 2007, we made some major upgrades to our site. We like to bring in something new around every three years,” he said.

“There is always a reason for acquisitions. In the past, we have acquired businesses for machinery, good sales staff and, in this case, for a new market.

“We are young, we are keen and we don’t like standing around.”

Bright added that the NCP name will be retained and said its staff members had all been positive about the acquisition.

“It can be difficult to get really good staff as many of them leave the industry, but through acquisitions you can often pick up a great team.”

NCP is believed to be the biggest printer in the city. Around 65% of its work comes from local businesses. It run a 10-colour Heidelberg and a range of digital equipment.

Bright Print acquired Bloxham and Chambers in 2001 and Riverstone Printing in 2004.
