Caldera launches update of job prep and nesting software

Print software solutions developer Caldera has announced the release of a new update for PrimeCenter, its job preparation and nesting software, with all existing users able to update their software as of 5 July.

PrimeCenter 2.5 introduces the possibility to export PDF reports of layouts to facilitate inspection before production. PDF reports include the images, number of copies, media, size, and various metadata to help users save time identifying and tracking jobs. PDF reports can be generated manually or automatically based on the user’s needs.

Users can also automate file input from web shops more easily, using HTTP links as input file paths in their XML job tickets. This improvement facilitates image import from a webshop to PrimeCenter, and enhances the software’s automation capabilities.

Distant image files can be loaded in PrimeCenter without having to use local filepaths.

PrimeCenter 2.5 also includes several improvements to facilitate file preparation for digital printing and cutting.

Other improvements include:

  • The page size to the contour can be adjusted when generating contours from a PDF box
  • The new smooth curve mode can be activated when generating curved contours automatically, to avoid irregularities and improve cutting operations
  • The media size and nest size are now displayed In the layout list for better size visualisation.

Caldera is part of global manufacturer and solutions provider Dover, which acquired the company in 2017.
