Canon launches new digital printers

Canon Australia has launched the new ImagePress series, which it is marketing as capable of providing vibrant and consistent image quality across a wide range of media.

Designed for commercial printers, in-plant operations and franchise printers, the ImagePress comes in three models – the C850, C750 and C650.

According to Canon, the ImagePress C850 is designed to provide offset-like image quality through Canon’s Gloss Optimisation technology, capable of matching the gloss of the toner image to that of the media used.

It also comes with a 32-beam R-VCSEL red laser to produce images at a dpi of 2400 by 2400.

Canon says the ImagePress C850, C750 and C650 can reach print speeds of up to 85, 75 and 65 A4 pages per minute respectively, in colour and black-and-white.

All models provide paper feeding with air separation and double sheet detection to reduce paper jams and production interruptions.

They also come with the new option of a Booklet Trimmer F-1, which Canon says provides time-savings with a larger trim waste bin and continuous run capability with on-the-fly trim waste removal.

Canon senior product marketing manager Peter Brittliff says the ImagePress C850 will give print professional a rich, predictable image quality and a high level of productivity to offer customers.

“The ImagePress C850 series is built off of the proven technology that helped its predecessor stand heads and shoulders above the offerings of competitors since its release,” Brittliff says. “We expect this new series will exceed the high expectations that have been set.”

This series of printers also now supports auto-duplex printing of up to 762mm long sheets, ideal for the short run production of 6-panel brochures, posters and dust jackets.

Canon Australia will host demonstrations of the ImagePress series at its Macquarie Park head offices this week, with installations across the country expected to follow soon after.
