Canon to launch new workflow at PacPrint

According to Canon, the new version accelerates turnaround, increases productivity and creates more efficient printing processes for digital print operaitons.

Damian Schaller, marketing manager, Canon Professional Print told Australian Printer, “Customers benefit from an open, all-in-one document preparation solution. PRISMAprepare v6.1 is transforming the way printing professionals prepare documents for production by streamlining document make-ready from composition through production.”

Schaller says, “Customers are demanding shorter run lengths and faster turnaround. Make-ready is one of the most time-consuming aspects of production work, which can kill profitability and customer satisfaction. By automating and simplifying this process, you can drastically cut your turnaround time and operational costs, while increasing your productivity and delivering faster services to satisfy the most demanding customers.”

He says, “The new version of PRISMAprepare software releases the full power of Canon and other third party production cutsheet printers.”

Schaller says, “That’s because it prepares documents independently of both black and white printing devices, so you can make the most of every asset. With true PDF workflows, wysiwyg previews and a host of other efficiency boosters, graphic arts professionals have a powerful make-ready tool that reduces time consuming tasks and enables them to offer more services.”

The new version offers an end to end workflow based on open Adobe PDF standards, it supports multiple PDF plug-ins, hot folders for PDF files, and automated make-ready for repeating jobs which allows users to eliminated countless unnecessary make-ready steps.

The software adds basic variable data printing capabilities to document make-ready. Users can mark data fields in a PDF and couple a database to it for printing, which Canon says eliminates the need to use additional software in the prepress stage.

The integrated colour management improves and simplifies colour services. It offers advanced features for modifying image colour, brightness and saturation. In addition colours can be replaced or changed with the click of a mouse.

PacPrint will be the first outing for the newly formed Canon Professional Print business, formed when Canon took over Océ and encompassing the full range of Canon and Océ solutions including, cutsheet, webfed and wide format print solutions, as well as software, services and support.
