Chameleon emerges in Queensland

Three Queensland print businesses are merging as Chameleon Group to create a new one-stop-service, with branches in Bundaberg, Hervey Bay and Sunshine Coast.

Sticker & Co, Digital Powerhouse and McTaggarts are now operating as the Chameleon Group, which they says is now a powerful force in the trade print industry. The merger has created three extra jobs and taken the employees to 40.

The new entity intends to grow further. Chris Krieger, general manager of Chameleon Group says, “We are eyeing off some businesses in the north of Queensland to acquire as part of our growth strategy. The Chameleon Group will double in size by the end of the year and we will do that both organically and through acquisitions.”

Of the three companies that have megred Sticker & Co offers labels and stickers, letterhead, business cards, and signage; Digital Powerhouse has traditionally focused on print and design; and McTaggarts provides general print services including books, brochures and flyers, magazines as well as display, promotional and wide format printing.

Krieger says it made sense to bring the operations under one roof as the group focuses on growth and expanding its services. He says, “We want to provide our customers with a one-stop-shop solution, which will include a wide range of services such as promos, signage, flexo, labels as well we all the other services that our customers are familiar with.

“We are targeting the signage market and for that we have ordered a Seiko Colorpainter, brought in an HP latex press, as well as an Agfa flatbed, all of which will supplement the growing demand for our wide format and signage section of the business.”

The new group will now offer a wide range of high-speed trade printing in digital, labels – such as rolls, sheets and singles, vinyl, paper, hot foil – posters, and offset – which it prints with two Heidelberg GTO presses – as well as introducing printing on films.
