In the biggest spend in its history, Chippendale has also ordered a six-colour MAN Roland 500 B2 press, a Muller Martini finishing line, and is looking at new pre-press equipment. The two MAN Roland presses will, be networked on a Pecom integrated digital system with off-press production control
Chippendale’s order is a coup of MAN Roland and local agent Intergrafica Print & Pack, the twin press deal is one of the biggest single orders for sheetfed presses ever placed in Australia.
The so called long perfectors are now becoming the norm for the nation’s sheetfed publication printers, with about 25 eight-colour presses, a handful of ten-colour machines and one other 12-colour operating in the country. The new Roland 700 12-colour will be the first such Roland to be installed anywhere in the Asia Pacific region, with Chippendale joining a worldwide elite of 12-colour sheetfed printers.
The new B2 R500 ordered by Chippendale is only the second to go into the country, it is capable of printing on a wide range of stocks from 0.04mm papers up to 1mm thick boards and plastics and has been designed to allow printers to broaden their market base.
