Converta cuts a new way to profitable print

He says, “We have about 50 of the Aristo digital cutting machines in Australia and New Zealand and we demonstrated one of the latest models here at Printex with a completely automatic sheet and vinyl loading system. The Aristo TL1625 model handles a wide number of substrates with digital camera registration for cutting printed materials.

“A major advantage is that we can cut corrugated board, folding carton, vinyl, xanita and virtually anything flat and digitally printed. Our tool head is one of the strongest on the market and we can cut heavy duty materials with a blade, often with better results than our competitors. We also equip most of our tools in one head so that you don’t need to change cutting heads when your materials change.”

He adds that the German manufactured flat bed digital cutting machine can accept any files from any software that printers use to create their artwork. He says, “You create the print and we provide software and workflow to make the file ready for the machine. The Aristo will cut and creases anything that is digitally printed. The advantage of this machine is that you don’t need to get a die maker involved in the process. There’s no need for forme making or traditional die cutting.”

This surprises some visitors. Whitechurch adds, “A lot of printers didn’t know that you could do this without forme making and die cutting, so it opens their eyes to new possibilities in their business.”

One of these possibilities involves moving the print from two dimensions to three dimensions. He says, “The real key is the printer going from a flat print to something structural to a more complicated display. I say to them, ‘If you print something, you can sell it for 30 dollars. But if you can cut and crease it, you can sell it for 60 dollars.’”
