Rob Maloney, managing director of Core Print says, “Investing in equipment is a big step in the current economic climate. This step was in line with our continual endeavour to produce quality products in the most cost effective manner and at the same time improving both quality and productivity.”
With a staff of 18 working two shifts, the company has come a long way in the last 8 years. Maloney has built the company on a strong foundation of valuing customers and personalised service, printing multicolour commercial sheetfed work in the A3/A2 market area.
Maloney moved the company from Heidelberg to Port Melbourne in 2008 and found this an ideal location for servicing his customers.
After running with a second-hand Agfa Palladio CtP for a number of years it was time to upgrade to state-of-the-art Pre-Press technology. Having evaluated the various options in the market place, Core Print chose to purchase a new fully integrated system from Agfa.
The new install consisting of an :Avalon N4 CtP running Agfa :Azura V chemistry-free plates, with an in-line :VCF85 Clean Out unit and plate stacker.
Added to this, Agfa also provided :Apogee workflow system including the latest release of :Impose. The operators have embraced the new workflow very quickly and this has streamlined the whole process. Plates are being produced faster, easier and with fewer errors, according to Agfa.
A lot of the work Core Print produces has short lead times and requires fast turnarounds, the installation of this new equipment made meeting these deadlines a lot easier. The equipment has been installed upstairs in an office environment; such is the state-of-the-art equipment.
When asked the reason for purchasing from Agfa Maloney says, “It was their reputation as well as prior dealings and experience for back-up and support.”
