Since the Brisque workflow management system was introduced to the prepress industry in 1996, it has excelled as a leading, groundbreaking workflow solution. Thousands of printers worldwide experience increased productivity and efficiency by adding Brisque to their prepress department.
Eliza Leung, Creo Brisque product manager, says, “The 8000th Brisque installation is a huge accomplishment for Creo.”
“Over the years, Brisque has been able to respond to changes in the industry and continually evolve, thereby maintaining its leading position among workflow solutions. Creo is excited to celebrate this achievement and looks forward to the future success of Brisque.”
All up, Creo has more than 15,000 workflow slutions installed worldwide. These workflow solutions including Brisque, Prinergy, PS/M and iMPAct workflow systems. Creo is also the leading provider of computer-to-plate devices, with more than 5000 Creo CTP systems in use today.
Walter Thijsen, Thijsen Rotatiedruk director of operations, says, “We are realising great efficiencies with this investment”.
As an official purveyor to the Royal Household of the Netherlands, Thijsen is a family business with more than a century of history and expertise. The printer produces brochures, catalogues and magazines with medium to long print runs for the retail sector, business-to-business, financial services, and government, at home and abroad.
The spectacular growth Thijsen has experienced required a sophisticated workflow. Since 1988, the company has switched from a sheetfed to web press and from eight-page web presses to the latest 32-page press.
“Quality improvement is the mainspring of our business,” explains Thijsen.
“Tried and tested technology must safeguard a secure and precise workflow that we ourselves can control. That’s why we chose Creo.”
Thijsen has a completely Creo prepress environment including workflow, proofing and output devices. The company enjoys the flexibility and reliability of the Brisque workflow that streamlines the prepress process. The Brisque workflow operates according to the ROOM principle (Rip Once, Output Many). It also controls the Creo Proofsetter Spectrum digital halftone proofer, as well as the computer-to-film and computer-to-plate imaging devices. Thijsen’s clients are enjoying the printer’s improved response time and cost effectiveness.
Thijsen receives all digital files from customers. The Brisque workflow management system processes files and provides an imposition scheme for both colour proofs and offset plates. The Proofsetter Spectrum produces the proofs and a pair of Creo Trendsetter VLF computer-to-plate devices image the plates, which measure up to 909x1326mm. They produce about 15,000sqm of offset plates per year.
Thijsen installed its first Brisque workflow solution with computer-to-film capabilities in 1996. Company growth required increased capacity and in mid-2003, the Brisque workflow was upgraded and expanded to include computer-to-plate (CTP) imaging devices.
