Currie Group sells new HP Indigo 15K HD to Southern Impact

Southern Impact has purchased a HP Indigo 15K HD Digital Press from Currie Group at PacPrint, becoming the first company in the Southern Hemisphere to own the new high-definition digital press.

The company has had a longstanding history with HP Indigo, which has run for over 11 years, and already owns two other HP machines.

The new HP Indigo 15K is targeted at the premium printing market. It features high-definition printing and FM stochastic screens which increase sharpness for halftone text, as well as versatility with a wider range of substrates.

“The HP Indigo 15K HD digital press is a natural progression for us from the SRA3 market. This has been something we’ve been talking about before we brought on Peak Digital. The machine bridges the gap between SRA3 and our A1 offset,” Southern Impact managing director Rod Dawson said.

“That market of short-run – that gap is closing and this machine is going to help us facilitate that, and also reignite our commercial digital department. Most of our business has bounced back following COVID and this purchase is just going to help us inject new opportunities into the business.”

Dawson also said the HP Indigo 15K HD digital press will replace 3 other machines, streamlining its press fleet.

“We’re going to be doing more with less. We’re taking out one of the SRA3s, two Xerox iGens and a Kodak mixed press. We’ve got another machine in our mail area which will assist in any overflow  but in essence, the HP Indigo 15K HD will be the workhorse,” he added.

“A strategy of ours is to keep reinvesting and this purchase is a great story for our staff to bring to customers. We feel like our offering to market is complete now with this press and we look forward to the machine taking us forward for the next five to seven years.”

HP Asia-Pacific general manager Arnon Goldman said the HP Indigo 15K offers a new benchmark in print quality for the widest range of applications in the industry.

“The new HP Indigo 15K HD is the ‘Swiss knife’ of the market and we are really excited for the opportunities that it provides Southern Impact with,” Goldman said.
