Dalim signs workflow deal with Adobe

Dalim believes that Adobe PostScript, Portable Document Format (PDF) and Job Definition Format (JDF) combined with the Abobe PDF Print Engine 2 will create unmatched file handling and output consistency, regardless of the output method or media.

Carol Werlé, CEO of Dalim Software says, “We see it as an obligation to maintain our reputation as a leader of innovative solutions and therefore continue to forge partnerships with vendor companies to provide some of the most progressive automated print production systems.”

According to Dalim, as the artwork supplied to publishers increase in complexity, along with the increase in variable data and the need for multi-purpose content, printers face the challenge of delivering printed material that accurately represents the designer’s intent.

The company says one of the primary hurdles is the requirement of many Rips to convert PDFs to PostScript before processing. Abobe PDF Print Engine 2 addresses this by processing PDF files in their native state until the time of interpretation, resulting in greater integrity of data.

Naresh Gupta, senior vice president, print and publishing solutions at Adobe says, “We welcome Dalim Software’s use of Abobe PDF Print Engine 2 in their workflow applications. This will ensure consistency and performance of content handling based on PDF, regardless of the media chosen.”

Abobe PDF Print Engine 2 is the latest version of the original product, which was launched in 2006.
