Trade relationships allow Kopystop to sell offset expertise to clients without having to invest in a non-specialty field, managing director Art Tchetchenian has told ProPrint.
He said its partners offered such good terms that Kopystop could add a mark-up and still provide the cheapest quote 80% of the time.
The Chippendale, Sydney-based business reciprocates by doing digital printing for those partners, he added.
Tchetchenian told ProPrint that a strong focus on restraining costs was another reason why he expected turnover to push over $1 million.
Kopystop conducts thorough business reviews every 6-12 months that examine all the costs passing through the business, he said.
Keeping a close eye on things like insurance, telephone, internet and stationery contracts has allowed the three-person operation to save $12,000 in the past year, he added.
Tchetchenian said Kopystop’s attention to detail, quick turnarounds and competitive prices would allow it to defy the market and keep growing.
“Yes, we are optimistic. We have already noticed an upturn in orders [this financial year], plus more quotes are translating into firm orders. The only hurdle is rising costs such as overheads including rental, machine maintenance and paper costs.”
The company has exclusively used Fuji Xerox machines for the past 12 years, said Tchetchenian. Its main printers are a pair of 700s and two 4127s.
