Dale O’Neill, sales director says, We are excited; Sydney is the logical step forward for us. The size of 44,000sq ft is about right; it gives us the space and opportunity to grow. The location in the middle of Sydney (West Ryde) is perfect; we are able to offer prompt service which printers appreciate. The warehouse is large enough for us to be able to carry the full stock of coated and uncoated papers, and packaging boards that print businesses require, and that will enable us to expand our market share in Sydney. We have had a great response since we decided to open in Sydney; our good old fashioned service is being warmly welcomed.” “We had been unable to service printers for merchant sales in Sydney from Melbourne due to the high cost of freight, but now by having our own base in Sydney we can provide the service and product offering that printers have been asking for.” It has taken 19 years but the directors believe the time is definitely right for Direct Paper Supplies to have a permanent Sydney warehouse. O’Neill says “As a company we are measured in our approach, and whilst we had previously considered a Sydney base we felt we were not quite ready. A lot of lessons have been learnt and we now are confident in our capabilities across all key areas. “Of major importance and comfort to our customers is the fact that we now partner the world’s largest mill groups such as Sappi, Metsa Board, Stora Enso, Smurfit Kappa, Clearwater Paper, Mondi Paper and Asia Pulp and Paper. These partnerships allow DPS access to the world’s best products, together with innovative thinking, considered pricing strategies, dependable logistics and technical support. Amongst its array of products are some of the world’s largest and most proven brands such as Magno, Candesce, Carta Elega, CKB, and Nautilus Recycled all which O’Neill says have been chosen for their quality, environmental credentials and predictable performance. He says, “We strongly believe that our customers will benefit from having access to A grade products of the highest quality at an everyday price.” Direct Paper Supplies today has three sheeters and two slitters that operate 24 hours a day. There are 42 people on staff. The company has been sending converted stock to Sydney for the past five years and has developed a loyal following. O’Neill says, “Unfortunately we had been unable to service printers for merchant sales in Sydney from Melbourne due to the high cost of freight, but now by having our own base in Sydney we can provide the service and product offering that printers have been asking for.”
