€50,000 incentive in Heidelberg competition

Any print shop around the world equipped with at least one sheetfed offset press has the chance to win 50,000 Euro. Prizes will be awarded to the most sustainable print shop and for innovative stand-alone solutions that promote environmental protection in prepress, press, and postpress.

The winner will receive a sculpture made of olive wood and steel, and €50,000. The hand polished HEI ECO sculpture, designed as a symbol of ecological printing, features olive wood, standing for nature, and a steel plate symbolising technology.

Heidelberg also announced members of the independent panel of judges, which includes the European printing association INTERGRAF; Panda Fördergesellschaft für Umwelt mbH, in its role as the marketing company of the Umweltstiftung WWF Deutschland, Institut für Energie- und Umweltforschung Heidelberg GmbH (IFEU); and the editor-in-chief of the Crosslands Bulletin on business, law, and the environment, USA. A further member of the panel will be named soon. The company itself will not be represented.

In future, the printing associations in the various countries will take turns to appoint different members to the panel, with the aim of reinforcing the competition’s international focus.
