Under the deal, the flagship Prism WIN system will no longer be sold to new customers, though the company will continue to support existing users of the software, which is being rebadged as EFI Prism.
EFI’s MIS offering will comprise four platforms: for larger groups is top-end tool Monarch, followed by Pace for the mid-sized offset and digital market, PrintSmith for copy shops and its packaging solution, EFI Radius
Marc Olin (pictured), general manager of EFI’s software applications business unit, said the acquisition will significantly boost EFI’s global presence.
“We are extremely happy to bring Prism into our expanding portfolio of customer-centric technologies,” he said.
“They have built a very impressive list of clients in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, South Africa and North America, and we welcome those clients to our large global client base.”
EFI said existing Prism users, which include the likes of Salmat, Snap, Geon and Blue Star, would continue to receive extensive support.
The financial details behind the deal are yet to be disclosed.
Prism, which has its global headquarters in Brisbane, has more than 7,000 WIN users across 10 countries.
Olin said the move was a continuation of EFI’s consolidation strategy for the MIS sector, following its acquisition of PrintStream in February.
“We continue to actively seek out additional print ERP/MIS solutions worldwide to consolidate,” he said.
“By concentrating our investment and efforts on Monarch, Radius, Pace and PrintSmith, we can ensure the largest development and support teams in the industry are delivering the best possible solutions to give our clients the best chance to succeed in today’s challenging business environment.”
