Epson rolls out large format dye sub press

Joining its stable of SureColor F-Series dye sublimation printers is Epson’s new SC-F7100, which it describes as a turnkey solution complete with hardware, software, ink and the option of media. Epson says purchasers can enjoy medium to high volume soft signage and fabric production, with minimum labour and oversight – the printer offers remote status notification and management. The large format 64inch press prints up to 59sqm per hour in roll-to-roll production. The 40kg media rolls are managed with a loading system that can be handled by a single operator.

Epson’s new SC-F7100, the latest addition to the SureColor F-Series

As well as fabric and soft signage, the SC-F7100 can transfer image onto PVC, polyfilm and a range of materials. With the assistance of coatings and polyester sprays, Epson says it can transfer images to ceramic, glass, metal, coated plywood, fibreglass and certain polycarbonates. The SC-F7100 features Epson’s PrecisionCore inkjet technology. Rolling out across Epson’s entire range of printers, the company says the PrecisionCore thin film print head is made up of micro-fine nozzles that promise high resolutions – up to 720 x 1440dpi – with accuracy and uniformity. The SC-F7100 also sports a high capacity Continuous Ink Supply System (CISS), which holds up to six litres and can be refilled with one litre packs during printing; and a Media Management System (MMS); in conjunction with a calendar-based heat press. Ink for this press is Epson’s UltraChrome DS ink, developed for the F series printer range and designed to print an enhanced gamut from a four colour set. When applied to fabric with a 50 per cent or higher polyester content the product meets the Oeko 100 standard for safe use by adults, children and babies up to 36 months of age. Ergosoft’s TexPrint software, included with the SC-F7100, offers high speed dithering, ink limiting, linearisation and colour replacement, and a number of features to complement high speed continuous production with colour and job control. The Epson configuration also includes colour profiling, soft and hard proofing, shrinkage correction, step and repeat (with selectable offset and orientation adjustment), image inclusions (cut marks and eye holes), hot folder operation, job costing and quality tracking.
