
The modification effectively ‘tricks’ the GS6000 into thinking the substrate being printed is slightly wider than it actually is. A grooved inset enables users to insert a felt pad according to the width of the material area, and this catches the small amount of ink spray that falls over the edge of the substrate.
Epson business development manager Andreas Oehlert said: “Wallpaper printing is the obvious application, but pop-up spider displays are another – basically anything where the output needs to be laid precisely next to each other.”
The upgrade kit for existing users of the wide-format eco-solvent device is expected to cost less than €4,000 ($5,375) including installation. “The ROI is very good and we expect users to recoup the cost very quickly,” added Oehlert.
