Epson unleashes superfast WorkForce printer

Epson Australia has used the Formula One event in Melbourne to launch what it describes as the next generation of superfast eco-efficient business inkjet printers, the WorkForce Enterprise.

The company says the 100 page per minute (ppm) digital colour A3 printer delivers the ecological benefits that only inkjet technology can offer, providing a low power solution with far fewer supplies than a laser copier.

The 100ppm WorkForce Enterprise WF-C20590 is joined by a 75ppm version, the WF-C17590. Print quality is up to 600x2400dpi. It has a  5,350 sheet (at 80gsm) maximum paper input with optional paper feed, and an inline finishing  finisher unit available with stacking and stapling for up to 4000 sheets.

To enhance the print quality, Epson has incorporated a number of technology innovations, including a self-maintaining printhead to deliver what it says will be consistently outstanding print quality, and an electrostatic transport belt to maintain quality at high speed. Epson claims this new technology delivers a step-change in environmental performance, reducing power usage by up to 96 per cent compared to the same speed laser printer without needing a specialist power supply.

Craig Heckenberg, general manager, Business Division, Epson Australia says, “The WorkForce cuts the environmental impact of print by providing a low power solution, with fewer supplies, while delivering remarkably fast print speeds at high quality. Having far fewer parts than equivalent laser-based MFDs, the WorkForce Enterprise will deliver higher reliability and significantly increase printer uptime.”

The inkjet linehead that delivers high speeds and print quality is designed around scalable technology that Epson first used in industrial systems, such as large-scale label presses. The new full width linehead design measures just 43mm across and contains approximately 33,500 nozzles, that incorporate nozzle verification and variable size droplet technology designed to eliminate banding. According to Epson this compact level of engineering precision not only enhances performance; it also provides speed and reliability for highly productive teams where downtime is not an option.

The optional WorkFlow Enterprise Finisher unit enables automatic document finishing, a 5,350-sheet max paper input with optional paper feed and a 4,000-sheet stapler and stacker to improve efficiency, saving time and effort. In addition, these models are compatible with a wide-range of solutions and built for user efficiency smart device mobile printing and scanning with NFC. Tools and software such as Email Print for Enterprise, Epson Print Admin and Document Capture Pro add additional functionality.

The 100ppm WorkForce Enterprise WF-C20590 will be available from winter 2017 with the 75ppm WF-C17590 to follow. Pricing is yet to be finalized.
