Traditionally however, there were some jobs that were out of its reach. Complex four colour jobs that it couldn’t realistically compete for, given its lack of a four or more colour press. So The Print Shop’s Colin McGinley started shopping around for a machine to solve that problem. Last month, Alex Peters Machinery solved it for him, installing a 1999 Heidelberg Speedmaster SM52-5P3.
It has brought instant results for The Print Shop. Even before the press was running, McGinley had confirmed a job for the new press that he says he “could never have even quoted on before,” for an eight page, four colour process corporate brochure, with a print run pushing 100,000. “Having the Speedmaster allows me to talk to customers that I could never have dreamed of and to produce higher quality than was ever possible in the past.”
