FAB to supply 500 A4spm Delphax printer

Maximum speed is 500 A4 impressions-per-minute, which translates to 7,500 SRA2 sheets
an hour, which is half the speed of an offset B2 press.

Firstshown as a technology demonstration at drupa 2012 in Germany, the Delphax elan
uses an SRA2 sheet size enabling 4-up A4 printing, on substrates from 60 to
350gsm. The Memjet Waterfall printheads deliver a maximum 1600dpi resolution,
firing up to 700 million ultra-fine droplets of ink per second.

Currently in beta test sites in the USA, the elan 500 will be ready for commercial sales
in Australia in the first quarter of 2014

The Delphax elan is a duplexing machine that features an array of
Australian-developed CMYK Memjet printheads, with the upcoming options of two
additional spot colours plus MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) for
financial security documents. It features inline media coating/priming to
extend the range of substrates that can be used.

MatthewBenn, managing director of FAB Equipment says,: “Adding the Delphax elan 500 to
our stable of products makes us a different type of supplier, and moves us into
the era of high-volume vibrant colour cut-sheet printing technology. Our
heritage as a service company through our subsidiary ASAP Repairs service
division went a long way in convincing Delphax that FAB Equipment is the
perfect partner for the Australian market.

“Also, our broad range of top-quality finishing equipment fits perfectly with the elan
500 because it will deliver SRA2 sheets in an offset press-like pile rather
than a paper-tray fed system. We are absolutely delighted to be appointed as
Delphax’s Australian partner and await our first machine with enthusiasm.”
