Screen launches inkjet commercial printer

Screen is now taking orders for its new Truepress inkjet 520HD, aimed at high end printers, and has already sold four of the units to Switzerland, Japan, Holland and USA.

The high speed inkjet printer, announced in September, is built for commercial printing and publishing applications, including high-quality books, short-run magazines.

Speaking with Australian Printer, Screen Australia managing director, Peter Scott, says the HD printer is a ‘completely new design from ground up’.

He says the new inkjet web press, which also prints a ticketing application for the Hunkeler laser perforating line, is what ‘the market has asked for’.

He says, “The market has said to us that they want to print with quality, so we went back to the drawing room and came up with the TruePress HD.”

The Truepress Jet520HD, which is driven by Screen’s Equios software, has the features to optimise the machines performance, such as In-Rip Smart Imposition, ICC Profile Editor and Spot Colour Editor.

Scott says the printer paper transport and drying system are also new, allowing papers from 40gsm to 250gsm to be handled, and it has new print heads and new screening technology.

He says more than 700 of the original TruePress inkjet webs have been sold globally, and he expects the new version to outperform its predecessor, including here in Australia.
