Screen makes impact with high volume inkjet at GraphExpo

Scott said, “In the Truepress Jet 520ZZ, Screen now has a machine that addresses both speed and quality considerations. Its standard speed is 150 metres-per-minute, 17 per cent faster than our existing 128 metres-per-minute benchmark.

An option to take it up to 220 metres-per minute is also available, plus a version that handles the wider 570mm web width, making it particularly useful for broadsheet newspaper, catalogue and targeted direct mail production. In page terms, up to 173,000 A4s per hour can be printed, all with variable data if required.”

Scott also revealed that the ZZ’s resolution is an apparent 1440dpi, achieved by the company’s screening technology and Epson 720 dpi printheads. He says this makes the ZZ the highest resolving inkjet printer in its class.

A fifth colour can be added as an option. It is driven by Screen Equiosnet workflow, an all-PDF solution that can also drive CtP and wide format devices. Equiosnet incorporates Pantone libraries and a Spot Colour editor for colour accuracy, according to Scott.

He adds, “Because Equiosnet uses Adobe’s PDF v2 engine and PDF/VT for variable data, PDFs remain in native format throughout the print process, even for complex variable data. This really opens up a new chapter in variable data printing and the new JetInspection camera system will go further by verifying printed PDFs with the file data, plus scanning barcodes and OCR fonts.”

Also showcased at GraphExpo was the Truepress Jet 520EX ColorType, a 64 metres-per-minute entry-level digital press that builds on the Ipex release of the 520EX mono machine aimed at book printers.
