Failed Roller Poster saved by Foxcil

Trade label company Foxcil has given collapsed Brookvale printer Roller Poster Co a lifeline after it reached an agreement to save it from liquidation.

Foxcil managing director Roger Kirwan says a deal was struck between himself and Roller Poster liquidators to keep the business trading, in a bid to rescue the struggling printer and support his return into flexo printing.

Kirwan has confirmed three of the Roller Poster Company’s staff will remain on board, and the new company resumed trading on Friday July 1 under the abridged name Roller Poster.

“My first concern has been with all the employees of The Roller Poster Company. They have had a terrible couple of weeks. I am pleased and proud of the fact that we have been able to save the majority of the employees’ jobs,” says Kirwan.

“Roller Poster’s equipment is tried and tested, and the operators are true craftsmen with knowledge and expertise that is impressive. I am personally looking forward to be back involved with flexographic printing which is an area of print I have greatly enjoyed in the past.”

“The company had an opportunity for labels, and I saw potential in the products that these guys produce,” adds Kirwan.

The poster printer fell into liquidation late last month after its presses were switched off by the landlord due to unpaid rent.

Liquidators managed to keep the presses running long enough to finish a $100k signage contract for the Australian Labor Party which has been close to completion. Employees were told at the time they would be out of a job once the orders were finished.

Roller Poster is set to continue trading as an independent company with Antonin Dvorak staying on as general manager supported by Kirwan as managing director.

Kirwan says the administration and back office functions of both Foxcil and Roller Poster will be immediately centralised and shared between the two printers. Production orders are already being accepted for the repaired business.

Foxcil is a trade label and sticker printer, founded in 2012 by Kirwan and like Roller Poster is based in Brookvale. Kirwan previously operated a label printer in NZ named Kiwi Labels before moving to Australia to establish Foxcil.
