Flood damaged printer back in shop

Months after a super storm ripped through his printing business in Sydney’s south west, Alted Printing owner Ted Rixon has finally returned to his shop front and is planning a grand re-opening of the store.

Since June, Rixon has been unable to trade at his shop on Argyle Street, Picton due to water damage caused by a storm. He alleges delays caused by his contents insurer CGU and building insurer Axis Underwriting also prevented him from returning sooner.

In the meantime, Alted recommenced trading at a premises owned by a family friend.

However this week, Alted’s digital press was back up and running again at the old premises, despite urgent repairs still needed.

“Axis Underwriting eventually dried out the building but they have not fixed the carpentry. Besides drying out the building, they have not even started with repairs,” Rixon tells Australian Printer.

After an insurance battle with contents insurer CGU, Rixon reports all the damaged contents of the shop have now been replaced.

Alted Printing will by hosting a grand re-opening celebration in mid-October when the business becomes fully functional again.

Rixon adds, “The support from the Picton community has been fantastic.”
