Fuji Xerox announces carbon reduction targets

While Fuji Xerox’s C02 emissions stood at around 1.7million tons in 2005 the company’s current target is to drop its emissions to 1.2 million tons by 2020.

Activities for achieving this target include:

  • Developing and proliferating products that minimise environmental impact during end-user usage, targeting an 80 per cent reduction of per unit power consumption from the 2005 levels
  • Building a mechanism for low-carbon manufacturing, including the entire supply chain, targeting a 75 per cent reduction of per-unit CO2 emissions during manufacturing from 2005 levels

Fuji Xerox claims that more than 50 per cent of environmental impact during the product life cycle is attributable to end-user power usage.

The company statement says, “Fuji Xerox is innovating its technologies and spreading more energy-saving products to the broader society to contribute to the mitigation of CO2 emissions.”

It continues, “After examining the responsibility and role it should play in achieving the goal, Fuji Xerox has defined numerical mitigation targets for the foreseeable scenario timeframe to 2020, as well as focal issues for achieving the targets.”
