Fuji Xerox tackles print-on-demand with continuous feed

According to Philip Chambers, FXA managing director, the development of these two machines is an important step for the company, and that the print engines would meet the immediate and future needs of both the transactional and publishing markets.

“We’re recognised as the leading provider of digital print equipment in the world, and the release of our Continuous Print engines means we can truly provide total system solutions for our customers,” says Chambers.

The new devices feature switchable output resolution of up to 600x600dpi; print speeds of more than 59 metres – or 800 A4 duplex impressions – per minute; pin-less or pin-fed paper feed; and the Synchronisation Verification System, which ensures benchmark registration when printing from pin-less paper stock.

Also featured is on-line application of processing marks without changing the print application; drag-and-drop job configuration at the controller; in-line operation of feeding and finishing devices from multiple vendors; and job initiation on either printer in a duplex configuration without rewiring or switching devices.

For transaction applications, the new systems can accommodate all major mainframe and publishing data streams. IBM IPDS (Intelligent Print Data Stream) is handled natively, as is Xerox Line Conditioned Data Streams (LCDS) through an optional Xerox Enterprise Output Management Services (EOMS) V-Services management system.

A range of pre- and post-processing equipment including unwinder, rewinder, folding, slitting, saddle-stitch and perfect-binder systems are also available.
