Fuji Xerox to introduce new digital full-colour press

Fuji Xerox says it will deliver extra production firepower with its new digital full-colour press for commercial print, quick print and in-plant printers. The Versant 2100 has been designed fresh from the ground-up to fill a niche between Xerox’s J75 and Color 800, running off personalised communications, brochures, photo publishing opportunities and specialty products with average monthly volumes of 75,000 to 250,000.

Jay Daley, solutions marketing manager – hardware, with Fuji Xerox Australia, says “It’s a stepping stone from a J75 up to a full blown production press. The gap between those two is substantial – in price but also in productivity and performance. This is a brand new addition to the Fuji Xerox production portfolio, and it’s sitting in a segment which we haven’t really been active in before. “It is an absolutely brand new, ground-up design. It’s not a refresh for us, and it’s not replacing any previous model. Customers who may be previous 700 owners or perhaps have a J75 and don’t have the production volumes to warrant moving up to a Color 800 will find the Versant 2100 the perfect solution for them, as it offers similar levels of productivity as the Color 800, just without the durability of its average monthly print volumes.” The machine will print up to 100 full-colour A4 prints a minute (ppm) or 52ppm of A3 on paper stocks from 52gsm to 350gsm, including auto perfecting. A new Fiery EX Print Service delivers 10-bit tone correction processing, Xerox says combined with its Frequency Modulation (FM) screen delivers improved granularity. Enhanced EA low-gloss eco-based toner promises image quality that closely resembles offset printing.

The Versant 2100 features a full width array inline sensor to automate print adjustment processes such as front-to-back registration and colour calibration. Working with an Automated Colour Quality Suite (ACQS), Xerox says this delivers built-in colour accuracy and repeatability, to increase uptime for the press. The Fuji Xerox Versant 2100 Press will be available in August 2014.
