GAMAA opens entries for $15,000 grant

GAMAA has called for applications for the 2014 round of its $15,000 industry overseas grant. The grant will allow the successful applicant to undertake an internship or research with companies of their choosing anywhere in the world. Internships can be undertaken in marketing, new media, print, graphic design and other related disciplines.

The outcome of the successful grant will be a research paper about the recipient’s experience and how their learnings can be applied to the Australian market. Last year Arin Tahmasian, account executive at Upstream Print Solutions Sydney, used his grant for a 24-day tour of the US and UK to visit key sites and events. Tahmasian says, “It was an amazing experience to meet with my peers and industry experts across the other side of the world. The GAMAA grant has allowed me to attend several prestigious conferences in Las Vegas (SMB Nation), Chicago (DMA) and London (Cross-Media). “It also allowed me to meet with experts in our industry and discuss the impact technology has on our industry and how both print and digital can be used in conjunction to increase the effectiveness of customer communication.” Karen Goldsmith, executive director of GAMAA, says the organisation is committed to promoting leadership through further education. She says, “The GAMAA grant enables the successful applicant to discover world’s best practices and tap into trends that are happening in our industry outside of Australia. “It is the gathering of knowledge from multiple sources that will fuel the sustainability of our industry and GAMAA is pleased to provide this opportunity.” For more information and to apply, entrants are encouraged to contact Goldsmith to discuss their proposal, phone (02) 9869 0010, and visit the GAMAA website – www.gamaa.net.au. Applications will close on March 14, 2014.
