GASAA seeks to inspire design and production

Held at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney on August 13, Inspire ’04 will feature photographers, designers, graphic artists, architects, web creatives, pre-media/print specialists, animators and screen artists. Hot on their lips will be the challenge of translating great ideas into great output and explore synergies and differences between these vibrant and evolving media.

This collaborative event is an official event of the Sydney Design Week, and is supported by
ACMP (The Society of Advertising, Commercial & Magazine Photographers of Australia), ADA (Australian Design Awards), AGDA (Australian Graphic Design Association), AIMIA (Australian Interactive Multimedia Industry Association), AIPP (The Australian Institute of Professional Photography), DIA (Design Institute of Australia), PIAA (Printing Industries Association of Australia), RAIA (Royal Australian Institute of Architects), and the SPAA (Screen Producers Association of Australia).

Garry Knespal, GASAA executive secreteriat, says both designers and service providers stand to benefit greatly from this event.

For the designers, it will be an opportunity to find out more about the experiences of creatives working in related disciplines, how they address challenges and seek solutions that could inform design work. This will be facilitated by practical sessions including image capture and enhancement, workflows, colour management, large format output, data storage and transfer, and digital asset management.

For the service providers, it will provide a forum to find out what designers require from a production firm, what’s new in design, and what needs to be produced and when.
