GENR8 celebrates six years of success in printing

GENR8 Printing director Yianni Moratidis is well known as an industry larrikin and avid promoter, so it is not surprising that he started his career in entertainment.

Moving into the printing industry six years ago was a natural progression for this Newcastle-based entrepreneur. Here he looks back on the journey since GEN8 Printing began.

“It’s been six years since I started on this journey into the print industry. At the same time, I just got married, built a new salon space for my wife’s business, and was trying to balance between my other businesses, but would I change anything? Absolutely not ?” Moratidis said.

He admits that although the experience has not been without its challenges, it provided many important lessons.

“I created an environment to explore my creative mind, pursue bigger opportunities and also to focus on a broader reach of my entertainment business’ customer base, and I did not expect it to expand the way it has,” he explained, extending his gratitude to all those that provided him with this opportunity, and the support he has received from many industry colleagues.

“To look back on the past six years to see what’s been achieved, the equipment, the challenges, the learning curve, the people, and the applications – let alone the things we have produced – still blows my mind even today. From starting out doing business cards and posters, to becoming a fully loaded digital production house covering small format and wide format, is amazing!”

“And still, every night before I go to bed, I’m always researching new applications, potential equipment, product reviews, product training, social media education,” he said, advising that the greatest asset to all staff and clients is knowledge.

“The more you understand their needs, the better you service their wants,” he added.

“I’m looking forward to what the next six years brings as we move into a new market in the digital printing industry, and am really excited about what’s to come,” concludes Moratidis, whose mantra, unsurprisingly is, ‘When you love what you do, then you’ll never work a day in your life,’
