Scott print also had a successful night taking home six gold awards, while PMP, Pilpel Print and Labelworld WA picked up three gold each.
Although the numbers attending the event were down slightly from previous years organisers said it didn’t take anything away from the quality and presentation of the ceremony. Ian Smith PICA chairman said, “If quality is a given in our industry then PICA is the forum where you can measure it.”
Also on the night, Jim Atkinson, national president of Printing Industries and Bernard Cassell, chairman of the Australasian Paper Industry Association, drove home some of the more serious issues impacting the industry.
They outlined that there is opportunity for businesses in taking up lean and competitive manufacturing and spreading the positive aspects of print in a communications package.
During the ceremony, Geraldton based apprentice, Jessica Ward of Sun City Print and Design won the LIA-Heidelberg-Graduate of the Year.
The last formality of the evening was to award the Kodak 2010 Printing Industry Recognition Award, which was presented the award to William Holywell, the founding father of the Perth based label printers Supa Stik Labels.
