The training program at the heart of the week of seminars will focus on current management issues. The main topics will include key areas of business management, e.g. strategy development and implementation, process and personnel management, sales and company development.
“Specialist knowledge is no longer sufficient in itself to run a company profitably. It is critical to have the right strategies and the latest management know-how,” says Bernd Schopp, head of the Print Media Academy.” At the Summer University, participants will be equipped with the tools needed to meet market and competitive challenges.”
A team of international experts will transfer practical knowledge at the Summer University 2006. The aim is that all the participants will be able to implement what they have learned immediately in their own company.
Case studies will be used to analyse and to formulate solutions. The practical examples will not be restricted solely to the print media industry, but will also cover other industries.
The participants’ own problems or future plans can also be discussed and the results documented in a personal plan of action.
By exchanging ideas and information with colleagues from different countries, participants can recognise different trends and use these as a basis for devising strategies in their own markets.
Dr. Thomas Schumacher, an experienced management consultant and expert in change management and didactics, will lead the Summer University 2006. The number of participants is restricted to 25. The conference fee is EUR€2,600 plus VAT. The course will be held in English.
An increasing number of seminars at the Print Media Academy are aimed at an international audience. For example, the PMA promoted its successful seminar
series “Handing down the family business” to an international audience at Ipex 2006 in Birmingham, UK Participants at this seminar learn how to structure and plan a handover between generations.
This year the ’Summer University’ is being held in Heidelberg for the fifth time, providing young managers from all over the world with information on the very latest management techniques.
The ’Winter University’, which takes place at different venues, focuses on the latest technologies and processes for the print media industry.
From April 2006, the PMA will be teaming up with the London College of Communication (LCC) to offer a new, international Masters Degree course in Print Media.
The new course is targeted at aspiring print media managers and executives and is designed to build their expertise in technical, strategic, and business management issues while also expanding their career horizons.
