Effective August 2, all Bermuda’s stock and staff members will be moved to Graph-Pak’s facility in Kurnell, south-east Sydney. Bermuda’s owner Bruce mackintosh will stay on as sales director.
Graph-Pak outlines it plans to expand Bermuda’s Sydney based business into a nation-wide network. Bermuda sells blankets, plates, inks, tapes, pressroom chemistry and consumables, which Graph-Pak claims will compliment its machinery, and packaging supplies business.
Tom Ralph, managing director of Graph-Pak told Australian Printer the acquisition follows the recent alliance with engineering service providers JTS Graphics and TRS and takes Graph-Pak one step closer to becoming a one stop shop for Australian offset, digital and web offset printers.
He says, “Bermuda has been around for 27 years in Sydney so it was preferable to buy an established company rather than start one from scratch. Our customers have been crying out for us to get into print consumables as we have been hugely successful with our packaging consumables business.
“The move will enable us to offer a whole new portfolio of products to our customers and we will also have access to Bermuda’s client base so it’s a major strengthening of our business. We will now look to build the Bermuda brand nationally effective immediately, with our next step to open offices in Brisbane.”
The Bermuda consumables will be aimed at offset printers, with plans to enter the digital market. The consumable brands to be offered have not yet been publicly releases but Ralph says they consist of well-known blue-chip product manufacturers.
Commenting on Graph-Pak’s successful expansion strategy, Ralph says, “We stick with top of the line products, which kept us afloat throughout the financial downturn as people spent their money on high quality products rather than the cheaper alternatives.”
