Paper supplier KW Doggett scored first place in the Responsible Procurement Award, for companies which are committed to acquiring FSC products such as office papers, print services and furniture as part of a corporate social responsibility strategy. KW Doggett says more than 85 per cent of its stocks are now FSC certified, and it is working towards a 100 per cent FSC inventory. The family-owned firm says, “It is lovely to be acknowledged for our FSC efforts as we continue to help promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world’s forests. “It is imperative our paper comes from responsibly managed forests and that we do our bit for the environment.” Victorian printer Kosdown Printing took out the FSC Print Services Award for its efforts in the commercial offset printing and finishing space. The Melbourne outfit says it saves around 150,000 litres of water a year with its technologies, including water and chemical free plate making systems.

Kosdown also uses vegetable and soy based inks, buys its paper and prints in bulk lots where possible, and is Waste Wise certified – as well as FSC accredited. The family-owned business employs 28 fulltime staff and 10 part-time and casual staff, and produces work for public and private sector clients. Other finalists in the Print Service Award were Perth firm Scott Print, KW Doggett and travel publisher Lonely Planet.
