Gupta takes over as Fuji Xerox Aus MD

Fuji Xerox Australia has appointed Sunil Gupta to managing director, taking over from the roles’ former caretaker Neil Whittaker following his abrupt departure in May.

Gupta began his career with Xerox Corporation in 1979 and has previously served as president of Fuji Xerox’s Asia Pacific Malaysia operations.

Controversial former Australia boss Neil Whittaker made the position vacant last month when he suddenly parted with the company.

Whittaker departed shortly after an unannounced audit was conducted by regional headquarters in Singapore, however no reason was given for the sudden end to his tenure.

Whittaker was known for implementing a win at all costs strategy at the company and developed a reputation for being a strict operator, with some staff claiming he banned them from speaking to employees at rival companies.

Gupta describes himself as an accomplished leader of global enterprises and board advisor with a passion for building high performance teams.

Gupta says he has strong vision, strategy, sales, marketing, financial and operational leadership and has extensive knowledge in fields of board governance, sustainability and a wealth of international experience.

In his previous role, Gupta served as president and CEO of Gateway Network Enterprise where he led several tech companies including MobiFusion, which provides cloud based mobile infrastructure.

Prior to this he served as president of Fuji Xerox Malaysia. During his tenure Fuji Xerox says, “He successfully transformed the operations of the company and created a united winning culture.”

Fuji Xerox says the appointment of Gupta signals the company’s ‘next journey of growth and operational excellence’.

Commenting on his new role, Gupta says, “We must now look forward and redefine who we are both internally and externally.

“I am impressed by the talent throughout the organisation and am focused on getting back to basics and create a company that is easy for our valued customers to do business with, foster a winning and engaged culture internally and continue to carve out market share across all industries by delivering greater value.”

Masashi Honda, president of Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific has been serving as interim managing director until a replacement could be found.
