The company says faster set up times of this inline measuring system, originally unveiled at Ipex 2006, made an impression on the panel of judges, a result of the machine no longer having to be stopped for sheet pulls and measurements. Heidelberg states that both inking up and registration are quicker, and the fact that the machine does not need to be stopped also cuts paper waste.
The inline measuring and control system is available for Speedmaster XL 75, Speedmaster XL 105, Speedmaster XL 145, and Speedmaster XL 162 presses.
Presented annually since 1978, the PIA/GATF InterTech Technology Award aims at advancing technical progress in the industry by highlighting particularly innovative technologies that are of concrete benefit. Entrants must be tried and tested under industrial production conditions, and be expected to have a significant impact on the industry over the next five years.
