Heidelberg will officially present its new Speedmaster XL 75 Anicolor 2 to the market at drupa 2016, which it says features a 50 per cent increase in productivity and 20 per cent faster ink changes.
The German press manufacturer will unveil its latest generation of Anicolor capable of printing on a range of stock, primarily targeted towards packaging printing – describing is as having ‘ever-changing spot colours’.
The B2 sized press is designed to take on digital printing head-on. It does not have a variable data capability of course, but its super quick makeready times, offset quality and stock capability give it real advantages.

Heidelberg equipment board member Stephan Plenz says, “At the next drupa we will be showing how easy it can be to complete short production runs quickly, flexibly, and economically using offset printing with the Speedmaster XL 75 Anicolor 2.”
“Another aspect of this is machine and materials coming together in perfect harmony and enabling a standardised and fast overall process together with the Prinect Workflow.”
Heidelberg says the new machine is set to give printers ‘greater flexibility, speed and productivity’ and uses the new Saphira Performance Kit Anicolor.
In drupa 2012 Heidelberg launched its Speedmaster XL 75 Anicolor as a prototype, promoting the equipment as ‘split down the middle between commercial and packaging printers’. It has sold more than 200 units since its initial trial.
