HP PageWide Advantage 2200 inkjet web press wins Printing United Alliance award

The HP PageWide Advantage 2200 inkjet web press has won a Printing United Alliance 2023 Pinnacle Award for Technology.

The Printing United Alliance Pinnacle Awards are the industry’s largest and most respected accolades for print-related products and services, demonstrating excellence in technology and outstanding productivity.

Open to all Printing United Alliance supplier members, the Awards are evaluated by a highly qualified judges panel out of more than 160 entries from more than 58 categories, spanning from analogue to digital, output and non-output technologies.

The HP PageWide Advantage 2200 utilises HP Optimizer technology to produce excellent print quality across a wide range of media.

The award-winning HP PageWide Advantage 2200 is the next-generation platform of inkjet web presses that builds on 15 years of field-proven innovations from the T200, T300 and T400 series platforms. Incorporating a single arch, this versatile press supports paper thickness from 40 gsm up to 300 gsm with fewer components, delivering “break-through” speeds of 244 metres per minute in monochrome and 152 metres per minute with complete High Definition Nozzle Architecture (HDNA) colour quality at high coverage.

According to HP, this new platform expands application versatility while reducing labour costs by minimising overall maintenance and servicing time, increasing reliability and maximising uptime. Overall, this production-scale inkjet web press offers customers a low total cost of ownership, the company said.

Bennett Graphics president David Bennett, one of the users of the HP PageWide Advantage 2200, said, “Our customers have extremely tight turnaround time requirements for time-sensitive marketing communications, but with the speed and quality of the HP PageWide Advantage 2200, we can scale our capabilities to meet their growing needs. We have been an HP Indigo user for many years, and the Advantage 2200 opens up new opportunities to compete for projects we couldn’t have handled before.”

Thanks to the new HP High-Efficiency Drying (HED), the press reduces total energy consumption per page by up to 60 per cent, recirculating up to 80 per cent of the air heated during drying processes.

The press incorporates passive and active web cooling modules that enable high levels of print quality for high-coverage print jobs at maximum speeds, allowing customers to run a versatile mix of print runs, ranging from light coats to heavy coverage gloss work.

Offering “industry-leading productivity” with quality and media versatility for all industries, including publishing, direct mail, and commercial print, the HP PageWide Advantage 2200 offers modular dryers that allow customers to size their press according to application and production needs.

The press utilises the HP Optimizer technology to produce excellent print quality across a wide range of media.

The Digital Front End allows customers to reduce total ink usage and media waste by optimising colour, ink laydown, startup and running modes.

N2 Company director of operations Robb Hotchkiss added, “The HP PageWide Advantage 2200 changed our business by accelerating print speeds and its ability to handle surges more efficiently. The Advantage 2200 quality is incredible, and the flexibility of the press and colour controls allow us to maximise the quality and appearance of our magazines while being cost-effective in full coverage ink laydown.”

Printing United Alliance program manager Dawn Nye concluded, “The Pinnacle Technology Awards competition represents true innovation and products that are likely to have a significant impact among commercial hardware, software, consumables, industrial and screen equipment.”
