HP is releasing upgrades and solutions for its sign and display technologies to help printers capitalise on new markets beyond commoditised print. Zoran Novakovic, manager of sign and display with HP South Pacific, says, “Large-format printing companies are working in a changing marketplace, challenging them to step outside of their application comfort zone to meet client demand. “HP is introducing a variety of new offerings to help our customers meet production demands while also empowering them to confidently move into high-value markets, such as retail, interior décor and fleet graphics.”

HP’s new varnish ink for the Scitex FB7500/7600 targets high-value retail and corrugated applications
The company says a new varnish ink for the HP Scitex FB7500/7600 Enhanced Color Pack now allows printers to add spot or full varnish, create embossed text and images and expand their colour gamut. The integrated varnish is designed to protect against rubbing, scratches and water damage, aimed at high-value retail and corrugated applications. For the growing custom wall décor market, HP’s WallArt Solution, a cloud-based web service that helps design and produce customised interior décor applications, now includes a feature to create canvas projects like mounted prints and wallcoverings. Two new canvas substrates, HP Premium Satin Canvas and Everyday Satin Canvas, are also available for interior and fine art applications, joined by a heavyweight HP Backlit Polyester Film for retail signage and backlit displays. These are available worldwide through Brand Management Group. HP has also extended its finished graphics warranty to cover its Latex 881 inks and Latex 3000 printer when using approved 3M films to help printers to do business with discerning vehicle and fleet graphics customers. It is also offering improved workflow solutions with upgrades for the HP SmartStream Production Analyzer 2.0 for HP Scitex industrial presses, including improvements to the job dashboard and job summary report and the ability to set productivity targets. Operators will now be able to record notes for a complete picture of job production and the job report summary groups related projects together to be exported to management information systems software for further analysis. The company has also added EasyMedia Module, a colour profile builder that allows users to create International Color Consortium (ICC) profiles for better colour consistency, to its Scitex Caldera GrandRIP+ Software solution for HP Latex and Scitex printers and presses.
