Imagination Print has seen its wedding stationery printing double since it brought specialised retailer Amazing Paper into the fold last year. The Sydney outfit had been acting as Amazing Paper’s printer for 18 months when the two decided to join forces and create a more complete solution. Imagination is now offering several services under the one roof; all generating customers for other parts of the business. Emmanuel Buhagiar, owner of the Sydney outfit, says wedding stationery now makes up 30 per cent of his business – and is driving sales for other printed products.
It seems once blissed-out couples have created their customised invitations and gift wrap from Amazing Paper on the top floor of Imagination’s Marrickville digital and pre-press workshop, they are more than happy to recommend the company for general printing after the big day. Buhagiar says, “Couples go back to work after their honeymoon and tell their colleagues about us, so their companies will come to us for flyers, annual reports or business cards.” Couples interested in standout wedding albums need look no further than down the hall. Rosemarie Jeffers-Palmer offers handcrafted custom bookbinding from her independent company, Sydney Booking, also operating under the Imagination roof. Her husband, Kevin Jeffers-Palmer, former owner of Amazing Paper, has stayed on board as a bridge between his 500-odd clients and the printing side of the business. He says, “I try to make it easy for customers and offer them a range of stock and customisable options, so they might want a well designed invitation sent out in off the rack envelopes – and now we can do it all here as a one-stop shop.” Imagination also has a buzzing trade business that makes up 60 per cent of its takings, and takes on pre-press work for other players. It has no offset presses, but outsources this work to Sydney group John Fisher Printing.
