Impact International, an award winning manufacturer and printer of plastic tubes in Australia, recently hosted customers and special guests to help plant 8,500 new pine and eucalypt trees at its 114-acre forest which is located 40 drive out of Canberra.

Around 60 customers spent the day at the forest, along with Federal Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen, with all lending a hand to plant the new seedlings.

Impact International launched the sustainable forest program in 2020 in an attempt to further reduce its carbon footprint, become a carbon-neutral tube manufacturer and offer customers the ability to offset carbon produced from the raw materials used to manufacture plastic tubes.

The forest, which started with 20,000 trees, is divided into lots which are assigned to Impact International customers. The carbon which is captured from each lot is then used to offset the carbon emissions of that particular customer.

Managing Director Aleks Lajovic told Sprinter the opportunity to host customers and Minister Bowen, who addressed the crowd and spoke about Australia’s 43 per cent emissions reduction target by 2030, was very special.

Soil and forestry experts were also on hand to explain the benefits of the forest to Impact International’s guests.

“It was wonderful to have our customers come down and experience the forest,” Lajovic said.

“Many of them have been involved with the Impact Forest since it began two years ago but had not been able to get down to see it. We helped plant 6,600 new pinus radiate seedings and 2,000 native eucalyptus seedlings.

“Our customers had a great day planting trees, enjoying a delicious lunch and touring the existing forest.”
