Industry professionals visit Note Printing Australia

More than 30 industry professionals gathered for the LIA Victoria’s latest technical event, a highly anticipated visit to Note Printing Australia’s (NPAL) security printing plant in Craigieburn.

The visit, which many attendees admitted was a long-held bucket list item for them, gave guests the opportunity to hear from world-leading experts about the design, composition and complex production and verification processes involved in printing polymer bank notes, passports and other important identity documents for both Australia and overseas markets.

The presentations were complemented by the opportunity to watch the production of Australia’s $100 note, one of the latest of more than 800,000,000 notes, which will be produced at the plant over the coming year.

The industry representatives thanked LIA Victoria committee member Dean McGrath, chief technical officer at NPAL, for hosting the group, and Mike Griggs, head of technical services and Rob Cook, design and operational capability manager, for sharing their knowledge and insights.

The event was just the latest in the LIA Victoria’s series of technical presentations, which are free for LIA members to attend. Membership is open to all people in print with individual memberships at $45 and corporate memberships at $120. The 2023-24 membership year commences in October.
