Colour specialist Luke Wooldridge from Kayell Australia, worked with Hannanprint over a period of months to gain PSO, which must demonstrate expert colour management at every stage; ICC profile handling, monitor calibration, proofing, platemaking and printing.
In a sign of the importance IPMG place on PSO certification the group are currently in the process of re-certifying its major print sites. In February of this year Offset Alpine Printing began the first of the IPMG companies to retain Fogra’s PSO certificate since becoming the first Australian based print group to obtain PSO.
Wooldridge says, “PSO is an on-going process and as staff and standardisation practices continue to change it is important that companies continue to focus on maintaining the highest standard of printing. A print run of 10,000 sheets was measured and audited to the ISO 12647-2 standard”
Also commenting, Tony Dedda, managing director of Hannaprint says, “I am proud of the effort and dedication of our people in achieving this certification. It underpins our aim to provide our customers the highest standard in print quality.”
Fogra’s PSO certification is valid for two years, after which time the entire process must be undertaken again. For Hannanprint this meant another comprehensive audit of their prepress and plate-making departments as well as their ability to print to ISO 12647-2 standards on their Web presses.
Andreas Johansson, director for Graphic Arts at Kayell says, “The fact that Hannanprint have again chosen to undergo Fogra’s demanding evaluation to ISO 12647-2 proves not only their commitment to these attributes but also outlines the value they place in certification by Fogra.”
