Jokey Plastik orders six Xeikon 5000Plus presses at drupa

Jokey Plastik, founded in 1968, took its first Xeikon press into production last September. It is now being used at full capacity, running three shifts a day, seven days a week.

The new presses will be used to meet an increase in demand for short runs of printed plastic containers.

The Xeikon 5000Plus is capable of printing duplex B2 size for any length at low costs at a resolution of 1,200dpi, up to 500mm width, and can handle substrates of up to 350gsm.

It incorporates Xeikon’s X-800 digital front-end that enables a seamless and fast integration into any existing workflow.

Jokey Plastik had been offering printed plastic containers, using traditional screen printing, for quite some time, but wanted to be able to cost-effectively produce short runs and multi-versions, so it shifted to digital printing.

Matthias Zientek, production manager at Jokey Plastik, said: “The Xeikon toner-based process proved to be the only one effective in combination with our packaging materials. And because we strive to minimize the potentially negative impact of our processes and products on the environment, we were pleased to know that Xeikon toner carries the Swan label (official Nordic eco-certificate).

“Also, Xeikon toner has been FDA-approved for certain food contact applications, which for obvious reasons is a plus in our business.”

Jokey Plastik has 1,200 employees at 12 production plants in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Canada, serving customers worldwide. It is a family-owned business.
