Junior executives shine at JPE conference

The wide spectrum of the printing industry represented at the event included production staff and supervisors, sales representatives, managers and business owners. The conference also had strong attendance from JPE past presidents.

Commenting on the event, Steven Gamble, president of the JPE says the business sessions provided participants with knowledge and techniques designed to enhance both their individual careers, and the companies they work for.

He says, “We conducted a skills audit of ourselves, which really broke down our current position in a company and helped us to identify our strong suits and what areas we could improve.

“As well as covering self branding and career mapping, the sessions focused on innovation and how it can be introduced into our companies.”

During the conference presentation dinner, Shawn Ballesty owner of All Mounting and Diecutting Service received the JPE’s Laurie Malouf Award, while Matt Dobson, production manager at Dobson’s Printing picked up the Sleeping Tiger Award.

Commenting at the conference Ballesty says, “It means a lot to be getting this award, the conference has been great, it’s unbelievable the knowledge we have pulled out of the business sessions.”

Meanwhile, Gamble also took the time to thank the industry sponsors. He says, “In the current environment, cash flow is low and cost is a big part of drawing people to the event, and with the generous support we received, the JPE was able to provide a fantastic event at an affordable price.”

Sponsors included: GAMMA, PIAA, Heidelberg, Bright Print Group, Offset Alpine Printing, Bottcher, Media Super, BJ Ball Paper and Snap.

The next JPE event will be held at the Rydges in Parramatta on September 27, where attendees will hear from an expert on the customer relationships.
