KBA sees Metronic’s product range as a neat fit, although no details of the deal are available at present.
Established by Torald L. Rohloff in 1972, Metronic is well positioned in both the plastic card and ID markets. Its sales target for the current year is €35m with a payroll of 300-plus. KBA employs around 7300 and posted group sales last year of €1.35bn.
The proximity of their facilities has been conducive to ever closer ties, and two years ago KBA and Metronic entered an alliance to develop and market the Genius 52, a sheetfed offset press for the rapidly expanding short-run colour market.
The two companies, both drivers of innovation in their professed fields, are confident that intensifying their association will deliver substantial technological and organisational benefits.
