Recognised printing expert Werner Seidel (48) will be offering above all packaging customers his advice and assistance in all matters concerning productivity and process optimisation, materials flows, process technology, quality management and investments in new equipment.

KBA hopes that above print companies will recognise this service as a contribution to their maintaining competitiveness on a market (especially in Europe) characterised by production relocation to low-wage countries, and as a augmentation of their own know-know regarding print production for the premium sector.

Seidel came up through the offset printing trade before seeking further qualifications in business administration. He has been active in managerial positions in various print enterprises, and was for the past 14 years responsible for technical developments at CD Cartondruck in Obersulm.

During this time, Seidel set up pilot lines for both sheetfed offset and sheetfed gravure print, dispersion calendaring for high-quality finishing and the latest in cutting and gluing technologies.

He served the modern and innovative company by optimising the existing plant, and accompanied investments in future-oriented machinery from a whole range of different manufacturers through to practical implementation.

At the same time, Seidel devoted considerable attention to the optimisation of procedures and materials logistics, quality monitoring and control, and many other aspects of folding carton production for the high-quality cosmetics segment.

He was for some years also a member of the technical committee of the German Carton Makers Association (FFI), chairing this committee for more than two of those years.

Seidel is now looking forward to passing on the extensive experience gained throughout this unique career.
