Centrum buys size 7 KBA in packaging move

Percy Vij, CEO of Centrum says, “We are a general commercial printer, but see opportunity in niche markets such as packaging and POS. The new KBA will enable us to serve the market. We will also be setting up a trade print service to enable other printers to serve that market.”

Vij says he bought the new KBA as ‘it was the best machine for our purposes’ and says it will be up and running before Christmas. Centrum currently runs a pair of sheetfed presses, and these will be kept to serve the company’s existing market.

Centrum general manager Sandra Mascaro says, “We already have promises of several million dollars worth of packaging work from existing clients and believe that as one of the few printers in the country with this size of press there will be plenty of work out there.”

Dave Lewis, general manager of KBA Australia says, “Centrum is a very well run business, and we are delighted to become their press partner in this new venture.”

Vij has owned the Mascot based business since 1999 when he bought it for funder Jan Burrie.
