Kirwan invests in digital labels

Kirwan Print Group has bought the new Konica Minolta C71cf digital label press, the first company in Australia to do so.

Roger Kirwan, owner of Kirwan Print group says it is a good fit for the company, “It is a nice press that will help with our capacity. It is basically an insurance policy to remove the exposure from the Xeikon press we already have,” he says.

One of the reasons he purchased the press is it has the same dpi as his current label press.

“The Konica Minolta prints at 1200dpi, the same as the Xeikon. We also bought this press as our space is small so we needed a small footprint,” he says.

Anthony Lewis, general manager specialised print group, Konica Minolta presented Kirwan with a bottle of Veuve and congratulated him on being the first Australian company to invest in the printer.

Kirwan Print Group was established five years ago by former Geon exec Roger Kirwan, and now offers a diverse range of services to the trade, including digital labels through its Foxcil brand, and rolls of printed plastics through its Roller Poster business.

The Konica Minolta C71cf bought by Kirwan produces labels that can be printed on pressure-sensitive paper in gloss, semi-gloss or matte finish; wine stocks, white BOPP, polypropylene in matte or gloss and other specialty substrates. It prints labels with 1200 x 3600dpi and runs at up to 18.9 metres a minute.

Konica Minolta says its new printer offers productivity, image quality and is easy to use. According to the company the bizhub Press C71cf delivers colour in a wide variety of label formats to make an impact on the shelf. It is suited for a wide range of applications including food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and other products.
