KPG appoints Rochester NSW distributor of digital proofing products

The agreement was signed Wednesday by KPG representatives and Rochester directors, David Fittler and Andy Molnar.

Says KPG business development manager, Ross Gilberthorpe, “Rochester is very strong in the agency marketplace, so it is a great vehicle to get our products into these markets.”

KPG claims its Matchprint Virtual Proofing System is the best contract proofing solution for monitor proofing in the marketplace today.

A winner of the GATF Intertech award, this SWOP certified system dramatically reduces time from the print production workflow by giving instant proof approvals and immediate feedback that enable multiple proof iterations to be completed in hours rather than days or weeks.

The system creates the pure digital workflow printers demand, enabling timely, accurate colour communication and removing distance and time from the prepress business. Features include:
• Colour consistency & accuracy, proof to proof, day to day, monitor to monitor
• ICC based colour management
• New colour science and proprietary methodologies to render RGB into CMYK
• KPG colour fidelity module
• Unique KPG colour calibration technology

Components of the Matchprint Virtual Proof system are:
• Approved LCD monitors
• Matchprint Virtual Proof calibrator and calibration application
• RealTimeProof suite of web-based collaborative proofing tools
• Apple G5/OS X
• Service and Support
• Onsite Training at time of installation
• Custom ICC colour profiles
• Colour Fidelity Module
• SWOP Checker Application
• Calibration Check Application

Meanwhile, RealTimeProof is a suite of web-based, collaborative proofing solutions, which, says Kodak Polychroime Graphics, provide previously unattainable accuracy and image quality for remote soft- and hard-proofing.

Harnessing the efficiencies of the Internet, RealTimeProof revolutionises the classic proofing cycle by enabling workflow partners to collaborate in real time on original, full-resolution production files.

Based on Pixels-On-Demand, KPG’s breakthrough image streaming technology, gigabytes of high-resolution files can be viewed in seconds even over a dial-up connection.

Users need only a web browser on a Mac or PC and a free, downloadable plug-in to proof their original files from anywhere, at anytime.

Addressing the needs of all the stakeholders in the graphic arts community, such as advertising agencies, prepress and printing companies, design firms, and publishers, RealTimeProof is the valuable solution for online proofing.

By using RealTimeProof, correction cycles are shortened, errors are minimised and overall production time and costs are significantly reduced. Users can simultaneously view, mark-up and annotate on screen. These annotations can be immediately viewed by every invited user. Email notification automatically alerts participants to changes, providing them with a direct URL link to the noted images.

Featuring unique proofing tools such as dynamic zoom and PrintProof, RealTimeProof enables a complete remote soft- and hard proofing workflow. Dynamic zoom provides maximum flexibility of pixel-ratios for examining the smallest details of an image, including trapping and bleeds. The PrintProof feature enables users to produce a high-resolution hard-copy, using any type of local proofing device.

By incorporating the KPG’s Matchprint Virtual System, RealTimeProof offers reliable, colour-accurate online proofing. It is effective in any common industry workflows, since it supports all the major, industry-standard file formats without conversion or compression: PDF, CT, LW, DCS I, DCS II, Scitex and TIFF/IT pages, PS, EPS, Screen Trueflow, and JPEG.

RealTimeProof creates a 24/7 virtual customer service system, which allows users to compete globally without ever leaving their offices. It strengthens customer ties and loyalty, and improves the overall communication between workflow partners.
